HARRISBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Venango County man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say he was involved in an armed standoff while under investigation for possessing child sexual abuse material.

Gregory L. Ahmadian, 64, of Utica, was charged with 11 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material and one count of criminal use of a communication facility, the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office announced Wednesday.

Investigators said agents went to Ahmadian’s home around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday to serve a search warrant following a proactive investigation that revealed the uploading of lewd materials. According to officials, Ahmadian was armed inside the residence, prompting a standoff with law enforcement that lasted about three hours.

Agents from the Attorney General’s Office and Pennsylvania State Police negotiated with Ahmadian until he surrendered around 4:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.

He was arraigned late Tuesday night, and a magisterial district judge denied bail, citing him as “a threat to self or others,” according to the Attorney General’s Office.

The Child Predator Section of the Attorney General’s Office is prosecuting the case. Authorities said all charges are allegations and Ahmadian is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
