LOUISVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Louisville-based moving company has been barred from conducting business in Kentucky following a court order from the attorney general.
Attorney General Russell Coleman announced a lawsuit on Tuesday, Aug. 12, that accuses Margaret’s Movers, owned and operated by Margaret and Arthur “Stormy” Weathers, of stealing from its customers.

The attorney general’s office has reportedly received multiple complaints from customers reporting items that were never returned, damaged, stolen, or weren’t disclosed that they were being stored.
Some of the losses cost customers hundreds of thousands of dollars and ranged from jewelry to irreplaceable childhood memorabilia. One customer described their loss as the “equivalent to a fire.”
“Moving is always stressful, and the Kentuckians who entrusted their precious belongings to this company have been repeatedly let down. When a company takes advantage of their customers and then refuses to work with our office to make them whole, we’ll hold them accountable in court,” Coleman said.

The company also hasn’t obtained state-required certifications since 2015, per the attorney general’s office, but has continued to provide moving services anyhow.
Coleman also secured a temporary restraining order, prohibiting Margaret’s Movers from moving any property within the Commonwealth, demanding payment from any customers, disposing of or relocating consumers’ property, disposing of any documents or evidence, or conducting any new business in Kentucky.
