Jury finds man not guilty in 2024 south Kansas City deadly shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A jury found a man not guilty after he was charged in connection with a deadly shooting that killed two people in south Kansas City in February 2024.

Last Friday, following a weeklong trial in Jackson County Court, Ronnie Mitchell was found not guilty of all charges, including two counts of second-degree murder.

On Feb. 16, 2024, three people were shot after a party near Booth Avenue and Ruskin Way.

One person was found dead in a yard, and another person was found dead in a house. A third person was injured but survived.

Linford Garrett, 22, and De’Shawn Robinson, 16, were killed in the shooting.
