
On the heels of announcing new truck rest areas to handle an expected surge in semi-truck traffic, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced Aug. 14 that the Ohio Department of Transportation received $12.7 million in funding for local infrastructure improvements.
The money will support eight cities through ODOT's Small City Program, according to a press release from the Governor's website.
Here are the eight cities that will receive the $12.7 million in funding.

The eight Ohio cities receiving ODOT funding as part of the Small City Program include:
Geneva, Ashtabula County: $2,000,000 for pavement reconstruction and replacement of sanitary and storm sewer lines, among other projects on West Main St.
Columbiana, Columbiana County: $1,466,354 to replace outdated traffic signals at three intersections within the State Route 14/46/164 triangle
Fremont, Sandusky County: $2,000,000 to reconstruct and resurface Hayes Avenue and South 5th Street.
Norwalk, Huron County: $2,000,000 to rehabilitate West Main Street (State Route 61).
London, Madison County: $755,400 to reconstruct W. 4th, including installing storm sewers and sidewalks on both sides of the street.
Uhrichsville, Tuscarawas County: $1,553,900 to perform full-depth pavement repairs, asphalt overlay, new curbs and sidewalks, and more.
Van Wert, Van Wert County: $2,000,000 to reconstruct S. Walnut Street from E. Ervin Road to Hospital Drive.
Upper Sandusky, Wyandot County: $888,440 for pavement milling and full-depth repairs on E. Wyandot Avenue from Huffman Way to Township Road 124.
A total of $12,664,094 in funding will be used for these projects.
What is ODOT's Small City Program?
Created by ODOT, the Small City Program is a funding program that aims to support eligible cities with populations between 5,000 and 24,999 that require improvement to not only their roads, sidewalks, and safety infrastructure, but also transportation infrastructure, enhance safety, and support economic growth.
DeWine also opens new interstate rest stops in Ohio
DeWine has announced several upgrades to Ohio's road infrastructure recently.
In addition to the Small City Program funding and plan for new truck stops, the Governor celebrated the opening of three new rest areas along Interstates 70 and 77 on Aug. 5 with ribbon-cuttings in Washington and Belmont counties.
The new rest areas include walking paths, rocking chairs and native plants.
