LISBON, Ohio (WJW) — Kevin the peacock has some explaining to do.

The beautiful bird escaped from its property last month and showed up at the Ohio State Highway Patrol‘s Lisbon post.

The agency shared a video to Facebook on Friday showing one of its troopers helping contain the animal while its owner responded to wrangle her feathered friend.

According to the post, the pet peacock had been missing for two weeks.

Trooper Derek Basinger is seen stalking the bird through a wooded area.

“Alright Kevin, you need to go back to them. Kevin, do not come here,” Trooper Basinger says in a tone akin to a parent speaking sternly to their child.

The trooper successfully herds the peacock into a clearing where things look like they might get dicey.

“Be advised, Kevin is attempting to flee,” Trooper Basinger says over his radio.

But alas, the peacock behaves, and soon enough his owner shows up with treats in hand.

“Hey buddy! What are you doing up here?” she asks before tossing what appears to be food toward the animal and securing the bird in her arms.

A memorable experience and a job well done.
