Florida's all-time record high temperature is safe, at least for now.

Maybe it's only a matter of time before that now 94-year-old record is finally eclipsed. And while this current run of hot weather in Florida might feel like "it's never been hotter", the fact is it has been in many places.

But there is no denying it's extremely hot in these final days of July and records are being set across the state.

On July 27 Tampa hit a record high of 100°F, breaking a record that stood since 1890.

In Southwest Florida, Naples also experienced a record daily high of 98°F on July 27. nearing its all-time record of 99°F.

There's a reason Florida is known as the Sunshine State.

Depending on which website you look at, Florida averages between 230 to 250 days of sunshine a year and is only second to Arizona in that category.
