  • Catherine Zeta-Jones addressed the four homes that she and husband Michael Douglas own during a recent interview

  • One of their homes is in Canada, another is in Spain and the final two are located in New York

  • “I know it sounds very jet set, and I love to surround myself with beauty but it’s not excessive, it’s very comfortable,” Zeta-Jones explained

Catherine Zeta-Jones and her husband Michael Douglas own four homes together, but the actress insists she opts for comfort over anything too "excessive."

Speaking to The Sunday Times, Zeta-Jones, 55, briefly addressed the properties she and Douglas, 80, own — one of which is in Canada, one is in Spain and two are in New York.

“I know it sounds very jet set, and I love to surround myself with beauty but it’s not excessive, it’s very comfortable,” Zeta-Jones told the outlet.

Despite her love of fashion, the star also insisted that "a pair of jeans is a pair of jeans" and that she wouldn't spent hundreds of dollars on a white T-shirt.

Zeta-Jones told the paper, “I go to all the vintage stores in Paris. I buy things that you are probably never going to wear, like a gorgeous cape, just great pieces."

"I am loving classic Yves Saint Laurent at the moment. I get excited about evening dresses. For me, a pair of jeans is a pair of jeans. Spending £200 ($270) on a white T-shirt? Nah. But when it comes to couture, beautiful beading, the artistry … I love the theatre of fashion," she added.

During the interview, the Wednesday actress — who was raised in the seaside town of Mumbles in Swansea, Wales — also recalled not growing up as a star.

Zeta-Jones' mom, Patricia, was a seamstress, while her dad, David, worked in a candy factory, The Sunday Times reported. The outlet noted that David eventually ended up buying the factory after winning over $135,000 in a game of bingo.

The big win also helped to fund Zeta-Jones' dance lessons. “It feels like a very precocious thing, and I don’t know where it comes from, but I’d say it out loud, ‘I want to be on the stage.’ I was a bit of a prodigy,” she told the outlet.

Zeta-Jones and her husband Douglas, who tied the knot on Nov. 18, 2000, after getting engaged in December 1999, have built quite the empire together, starring in countless movies through the years and raising their two children — son Dylan, 25, and daughter Carys, 22.

Douglas also shares son Cameron, 46, with his ex-wife, Diandra Luker.

Zeta-Jones' recent comments about the homes the couple share comes after Douglas spoke out about their huge property called "S'Estaca" on the Spanish island of Mallorca, which is thought to be worth over $32 million.

Douglas purchased the compound with Luker for $3.5 million back in 1990. However, when they divorced in 2000 after 23 years of marriage, the former couple had to endure an "uncomfortable" period of time sharing the house, per a translation of the actor's 2021 interview with the local Mallorca news outlet, Ultima Hora.

"It was very uncomfortable to share the house of S'Estaca with my ex-wife, Diandra," the Ant-Man star previously said. "Six months each was not a pleasant thing for anyone."

Douglas and Zeta-Jones now own the home, which was previously put on the market back in 2019 but failed to sell.

Douglas told Ultima Hora in 2021, "Now that everything is arranged and that the house is one hundred percent ours, Catherine's and mine, I can say that I never wanted to leave."

He continued, "My children will continue to come and my grandchildren and their children. I am sure that for generations this island will be theirs. This house belongs to my family and it will continue to be. Cameron, Dylan and Carys love it. My daughter speaks Spanish perfectly."

After citing the old mantra, "Happy wife, happy life," Douglas noted at the time that the arrangement worked well for Zeta-Jones.

"My ex-wife Diandra is no longer an owner, a partner with us, so we have the house together and Catherine's very happy here," he said, describing the Spanish island as "magical."

"I couldn't think of anywhere else, anywhere in the Mediterranean, where I can see such a coastline," he insisted at the time.
