Drive the legendary Land Cruiser for less this August

For decades, the Land Cruiser has earned a reputation for reliability and versatility, standing as one of Toyota’s most iconic and enduring SUVs. A lower MSRP than the last generation makes the model more attainable than ever, and August’s lease deals reflect that. For August, shoppers can take home a new Land Cruiser — the top-of-the-line trim level — for $789 per month. The 36-month term includes 12,000 miles per year, and like all Toyota leases, also includes two years of complimentary scheduled maintenance via ToyotaCare. You’ll need $2,999 due at signing, and the payment doesn’t include taxes, fees, or any other charges.

Want to lease a Land Cruiser with nothing down?

If you aren’t willing to part with the $2,999 upfront, you could spread that amount out over 36 months to get a rough idea of what a Land Cruiser lease looks like with no money down. Doing so adds $83 to the monthly payment, bringing the new total to $872 per month. Of course, this is also before fees and taxes, and isn’t a formal $0 down quote from Toyota. More about the Toyota Land Cruiser

Toyota offers the Land Cruiser in just two different trim levels. While it’s perhaps a little counterintuitive, the Land Cruiser actually sits above the Land Cruiser 1958, which means lots of standard equipment that you otherwise miss out on. The Land Cruiser gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen as standard, replacing the regular eight-inch unit, and ventilated SofTex seats, replacing the cloth thrones that the truck normally comes with. Those you share the road (or trail) with will know you sprung for the more expensive model, too, as it comes with upgraded rectangular LED headlights, color-selectable LED fog lights, and a slightly fancier front bumper design that eliminates some of the black plastic cladding.

Elsewhere, however, the Land Cruiser offers the exact same features as its less expensive, heritage-inspired trim level. But that’s a good thing. We’re talking about the potent 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and hybrid system that generates a more than adequate 326 horsepower and thrilling 426 pound-feet of torque. The Land Cruiser can tow up to 6,000 pounds and comes with four-wheel drive. With room for five passengers and a total of 82.1 cubic feet of cargo space — half a cubic foot more than the previous Land Cruiser generation —  the Land Cruiser is ready for, well, pretty much anything.

Final thoughts

Though more expensive than the entry-level Land Cruiser 1958, the Land Cruiser makes a solid case for itself by virtue of its unique exterior equipment and enhanced interior amenities. With a lot more luxury comes no reduced off- or on-road prowess, and we think that makes the Land Cruiser a worthy contender in the mid-size SUV segment. As long as you don’t need a third row of seats, that is.
