AT&T is expected to pay $177 million in a class action settlement related to alleged data breaches last year, and Louisiana customers could receive settlement payments.
One incident, on March 30, 2024, involved some customers' sensitive data, including addresses, social security numbers, birthdates, passcodes, billing numbers and phone numbers that were released on the dark web, according to Kroll Settlement Administration.
Another incident allegedly occurred on July 12, 2024 when limited data was illegally downloaded, with some of the breached information including customers and other users associated with the account, as well as the numbers they interacted with, USA Today reported.
AT&T $177 million class action settlement. Customers could receive up to $7,500
AT&T has denied the alleged claims within the lawsuit and denied any wrongdoing. AT&T has not been found liable by any court, according to news release by Kroll Settlement Administration.
However, AT&T has agreed to make two settlement funds available for settlement class members, which are AT&T 1 Settlement Fund and AT&T 2 Settlement Fund.
Who is eligible to receive payments from AT&T? How to know if you qualify
The AT&T 1 Settlement Fund involves a $149 million fund that will be used to settle claims from the first data incident on March 30, 2024, and the AT&T 2 Settlement Fund is a $28 million payment that will be used to settle claims from the second data incident on July 12, 2024.
AT&T 1 Settlement Class includes all persons in the U.S. whose data were involved in the first data incident, making them eligible for either a Documented Loss Cash Payment, or a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Cash Payment.
AT&T 2 Settlement Class includes all AT&T account owners or line users whose call records were involved in the second data incident, making them eligible for a Documented Loss Cash Payment, with some able to choose a Tier 3 Cash Payment.
Additionally, an Overlap Settlement Class Member is eligible for Settlement Class Member Benefits as both AT&T 1 and AT&T 2 Settlement Class Member.
How much money could I get in my AT&T settlement payment?
The amount of money that will be available for Settlement Class Member Cash Payments is unknown at this time and will be based upon the total value of all valid claims received, the settlement administration costs, as well as the amount of court-awarded attorneys’ fees, costs and service awards, says Kroll Settlement Administration.
AT&T 1 Settlement Class Members may submit a claim for a Documented Loss Cash Payment of up to $5,000. Members of this settlement class may also submit a claim for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Cash Payment, with Tier 1 payments potentially amounting to five times the amount of a Tier 2 payment, and Tier 2 payments for those who had data included in the incident but not their Social Security Number.
AT&T 2 Settlement Class Members can submit a claim for a Documented Loss Cash Payment of up to $2,500, or for a Tier 3 Payment as an alternative. Tier 3 Payments will be a proportional share of the AT&T 2 Net Settlement Fund left after payment of settlement administration costs, as well as attorneys’ fees, costs and service awards.
Overlap Settlement Class Members, who are those belonging to both settlement classes, could receive up to $7,500. Although, members of this settlement class may only use information supporting a Documented Loss Cash Payment once.

How do I get my AT&T settlement payment?
In order to receive a payment, Claim Forms, which are available at www.TelecomDataSettlement.com, must be completed and then submitted online or mailed to the Settlement Administrator at AT&T Data Incident Settlement, c/o Kroll Settlement Administration LLC, P.O. Box 5324, New York, NY 10150-5324.
When is the claim deadline? When will payments be sent?
The deadline to submit a claim form must be submitted or postmarked on or before Nov. 18, 2025. This is the only way to receive a Settlement Class Member Benefit.
Before any payments are sent, the federal judge has to give final approval for the settlement. The court is expected to hold a final approval hearing on Dec. 3, 2025 to consider approval of the settlement.
