ROCKY HILL, Conn. (WTNH) — As college students begin to settle into their dorms, some are moving in with senior citizens.
For the past few years, Masonicare, Connecticut’s largest nonprofit senior living community, has welcomed Quinnipiac University students to share the space during the school year.

Masonicare said the program helps students work and get to know the residents and explore the similarities between the generations.
The program started in Wallingford, but has expanded to Masonicare campuses in Rocky Hill and Shelton, as well as three different universities, Quinnipiac, University of Hartford and University of New Haven.
“When I saw the email advertising it, I was like, ‘This was a crazy thing to do for my last year,” Hartford senior Samantha Mengwasser said. “But it really felt like a way to make me a more well rounded health care provider in the future.”
