ROELAND PARK, Kan. – Storms were felt across the Kansas City metro Tuesday morning, and there was plenty of damage left behind.
Areas with excessive tree damage included Roeland Park on the Kansas side of the State Line.

“And now there are holes in the roof, and the shutters are shot, and the gutters are torn up and there are some stress fractures in the walls,” Dean Swingle, an area roofer and contractor said Tuesday, referring to a home in Roeland Park. “We had some storms last night into this morning in the area. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a lot of this going on right now.”
A home in particular, near 55th and Roe, was his company’s fourth stop of the morning.

“We have to make a clear path for the insurance company to be able to see what kind of damage needs to be assessed,” he said. “Once the trees are gone, we can assess the situation and make it watertight for the homeowner while insurance plays out.”
Roeland Park’s City Hall was closed Tuesday, as it dealt with a power outage.
In neighboring Westwood, utility crews lined residential areas, while tree limbs covered sidewalks.
In KCK, the Kansas Board of Public Utilities posted this video, showing their efforts restoring an area where a century-old tree damaged a handful of power poles.
