For Texans hoping to get some relief from hot temperatures as we move into the fall season, weather predictions are depicting a probability of warm conditions for the rest of August, September and October.
AccuWeather has released its fall forecast and is predicting that the warm weather will linger through the fall in Texas, New Mexico and other parts of the Southwest. In fact, the weather source says that "the start of autumn may feel like an extension of summer across most of the United States."
So, how is fall looking in Texas? Here is what weather experts are saying.
When's the first day of fall?
The autumnal equinox will begin on Monday, Sept. 22, this year. The equinox, which means nearly equal day and night times, is the astronomical start of fall. However, meteorological fall begins on Sept. 1.
Will it be a warm or cool fall in Texas?
Summer heat will continue into the start of fall, according to AccuWeather. The transition to fall will be a slow one, with the warmest weather, compared to the historical average, focused on areas from California to Texas and northward into Oregon and Idaho.

Will it rain this fall in Texas?
While powerful storms are forecasted in parts of Texas, like Dallas and Houston, the western part of the state and panhandle is expected to be on the quiet side, according to AccuWeather.
Fall is the second severe weather season, notes AccuWeather, only behind spring, when powerful thunderstorms and tornadoes are most frequent across the country.

When does the time change again in 2025?
The return to standard time, or "fall back," is set for 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2. Since clocks are moving back an hour in the fall, that means you'll get an extra hour of sleep.
