Chesapeake firefighters were called to Deep Creek after a report of a jet ski crash and found three people, stranded in the water in Deep Creek, Chesapeake, according to a press release from the Chesapeake Fire Department.
The incident occurred just north of the Deep Creek Locks and all three were transported to shore without incident. No injuries were reported.
The three people were found stranded in the water, clinging to a duck blind, a structure used to conceal hunters from ducks. The department responded to the water rescue incident at about 4:57 p.m. after hearing a jet ski struck a submerged object. Multiple marine resources were dispatched to assist with the rescue and Boat 8, operating out of Deep Creek Station 8, arrived at 5:20 p.m. and made contact with the people.
The fire department urges people to be careful when operating personal watercrafts and be aware of underwater hazards, especially in shallow water.
