MACOUPIN COUNTY, Ill. – Three law enforcement officers were arrested and charged after a victim was beaten at a central Illinois bar over the weekend, according to authorities.
The Staunton Police Department, in a Wednesday news release, identified three suspects in the case as Logan Hemp and Joshua Revisky of the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Office and Jeffrey Schoen of the Bunker Hill Police Department.
Hemp, Revisky, and Schoen were all formally charged with aggravated battery in a public place, according to the news release.
According to Staunton police, the investigation began when the victim’s sister reported an assault occurred at Skeeter’s bar in Staunton around 1 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16. Staunton police then contacted the victim, and Hemp, Revisky, and Schoen were all identified as suspects.
Staunton police arrested the three men with assistance from the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Office. They were booked into the Montgomery County Jail due to an employment conflict.

Staunton police said Hemp, Revisky, and Schoen appeared in Macoupin County Court on Tuesday for initial hearings and were released from custody under conditions set by the SAFE-T Act. During the hearing, the Macoupin County State’s Attorney’s Office recused itself from the case and said it would seek the appointment of a special prosecutor.
In a separate news release, Macoupin County Sheriff Shawn Kahl confirmed that Hemp and Revsiky are employees of the Macoupin County Sheriff’s Office and noted they were allegedly involved in the assault and “placed on administrative leave pending a complete internal investigation.”
Authorities have not disclosed whether Schoen is on leave.
