WEST LAFAYETTE, IN — West Lafayette Junior/Senior High School is the fourth best public high school in Indiana and the 295th best in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report's recently released rankings.
West Lafayette Junior/Senior High School ranked No. 1 in the Lafayette Metro Area, according to U.S. News & World Report.
Also close to home, Rossville High School ranked 20th in the state, 1,310th in the nation and No. 1 in the Frankfort Metro area.
The rankings are based on data from more than 24,000 high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia, according to the U.S. News & World Report's website.
"Nearly 18,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college," the website states.
"We rank high schools across the country to give an unbiased look at how well schools serve their students and help you make informed decisions about your child’s education," U.S. News & World Report's website states. "We also want to recognize high-performing schools and inspire educators and municipalities to do better.
"The top-ranked schools have a high rate of students who scored above expectations in math, science and reading state assessments, passed an array of college-level exams, and graduated in four years. The state, metro area and district rankings show how schools fare against others in a geographic location."
