Accused Lowe’s return scammers arrested in Danville wanted in multiple states

DANVILLE, Ky. (FOX 56) — Danville police arrested two people on Monday who are accused of multiple Lowe’s return scams in Kentucky and Tennessee.

Officers were called to Southtown Drive around 6:40 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, after a theft was reported at the nearby Lowe’s. According to Danville police, 44-year-old Vandana Horbas of Washington was in the process of purchasing $2,800 in merchandise, but allegedly used a “quick change” distraction technique and was able to leave after only paying $1,600.

She reportedly fled the area in an Audi SUV with Texas plates. Court documents show that police located the vehicle being driven by Ioca Horbas, 41, also of Washington, in the Danville Manor area.

“Danville Police learned that both individuals are suspects in similar thefts and merchandise return scams at multiple Lowe’s locations in Kentucky and Tennessee,” the department wrote.

An arrest citation notes that officers discovered several thousand dollars in cash and Lowe’s merchandise in the vehicle.

Both Vandana and Ioca were arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking $1,000<$10,000. Ioca faces an additional traffic violation.
