Missing 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro’s parents, Jake and Rebecca Haro, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
The news was confirmed on Friday, August 22, by the Los Angeles Times, and the arrests were made after authorities conducted a search at the Haros’ home earlier today.
As The National Enquirer previously reported, on August 14, Rebecca claimed that she was assaulted and knocked unconscious while changing Emmanuel’s diaper in her car while it sat in the parking lot of a Big 5 retail store.
“I got him out of the car seat and I laid him down so I could get his diapers ready,” Rebecca said in an interview with ABC 7 on August 15. “Somebody said ‘Hola’ and that’s all I remember. I saw white and I fell on the floor and I said as I got up that I couldn’t find my son. I checked all around my truck and I ran into Big 5. I asked the lady if she saw a baby. She said no.”
The following day, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department gave an update and stated that Rebecca’s story had “inconsistencies.”

“Based on the circumstances, the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division responded and assisted with the investigation. Investigators interviewed multiple individuals, including Emmanuel’s parents Jake and Rebecca Haro,” the press release read. “During those interviews, Rebecca was confronted with inconsistencies in her initial statement and declined to continue with the interview. At this point in the investigation, investigators are unable to rule out foul play in the disappearance of Emmanuel.”
The case has gained attention for true crime enthusiasts on social media, and many of them were suspicious of Emmanuel’s parents.
“We’ve seen this before. Chris Watts. Casey Anthony. Not buying it. Just tell the cops where that baby is and what you did,” one TikTok user wrote in the comments section of a clip shared by Court TV.
The search for the little boy is currently ongoing.
