Alfa Romeo’s Reborn 33 Stradale Makes U.S. Debut at Monterey Car Week

Alfa Romeo’s modern 33 Stradale, a hand-built supercar limited to 33 examples, made its North American debut across Monterey Car Week, drawing packed crowds and steady camera phones at a quartet of high-profile showcases.

The appearance marked the first U.S. outing for the bespoke model, which revives one of the marque’s most storied nameplates. Inspired by the 1967 Tipo 33 Stradale, the new car blends a carbon-fiber monocoque, dihedral doors and active suspension with an analog-leaning cockpit meant to emphasize driver focus. Alfa Romeo says buyers can select wide-ranging materials and finishes through a coachbuilt process with Centro Stile designers; all 33 build slots are already allocated.

Unveiled in 2025 at venues including Motorlux, The Quail and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the 33 Stradale was shown in multiple settings against a backdrop of vintage aircraft, concours metal and historic racing. At the Hagerty House in Pebble Beach, an evening panel featured Cristiano Fiorio, Alfa Romeo’s global head of marketing and special projects, and U.S. customer Glynn Bloomquist, who discussed owner collaboration and the car’s artisanal production cadence.

Performance figures underline the model’s track-bred intent. The 33 Stradale’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 is rated at 630 horsepower, enabling 0–62 mph in under three seconds and a claimed top speed of 207 mph, according to the company. Alfa Romeo cites Formula One-derived engineering input and a focus on weight, packaging and aero, with the body built entirely by hand at Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera in Italy.

The weeklong rollout was choreographed across the Peninsula. At Motorlux on Aug. 13, the 33 Stradale headlined a static display at the Monterey Jet Center alongside current Giulia, Stelvio and Tonale models. A day later, the brand’s Hagerty House gathering offered close-up access and a discussion of how each commission is tailored “Renaissance workshop”-style. On Aug. 15, The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering provided a concours backdrop for the car’s sculpted surfacing, while Aug. 16 at Laguna Seca situated the new Stradale amid the sounds and smells of historic racing.

Beyond crowd appeal, the debut telegraphed Alfa Romeo’s push to position the 33 Stradale as a halo for design and craftsmanship. The cockpit adopts a minimalist layout with analog cues, limited switchgear and materials selected to reflect each client’s brief. Underneath, the carbon structure and adaptive chassis hardware are aimed at coupling road usability with track-day capability, the brand said.

Production is capped at 33 units worldwide, a nod to the original run of road-going Tipo 33s and a statement on exclusivity in a crowded supercar field. Alfa Romeo’s decision to stage the car across multiple Monterey venues ensured repeat visibility during a week when new concepts, seven-figure auction results and concours winners compete for attention.

For longtime Alfisti, the 33 Stradale’s U.S. bow delivered a tangible link between the company’s competition past and its present-day ambitions. For everyone else, it was simply one of Monterey Car Week’s don’t-miss moments: an Italian icon, remade for a new era and already spoken for.
