After one of the most impressive rookie seasons in NASCAR Xfinity Series history, Connor Zilisch is ready to move up to the NASCAR Cup Series. Ahead of the Cup regular season, finally at Daytona International Speedway, Trackhouse Racing founder Justin Marks announces that Zilisch has been signed to a multi-year agreement to race for the team in the Cup Series.

This move comes just a day after Zilisch won the Xfinity Series race at Daytona, with Parker Kligerman subbing in for him after the opening 12 laps, as Zilisch, JR Motorsports, and Trackhouse are focused on the 19-year-old's recovery following his fall two weeks ago in Watkins Glen's victory lane.

Red Bull and WeatherTech, two of Zilisch's primary sponsors in the Xfinity Series, are moving with him as his anchor sponsors for the Cup Series. A number has not been announced at this time. Zilisch is replacing Daniel Suaréz, who was announced to be mutually parting ways with Trackhouse earlier this summer. Zilisch has been running the No. 87 in his three Cup Series starts with Trackhouse, and Suaréz runs the No. 99.

When it was Zilisch's time to speak in the pre-race press conference, he told the media that making it to the Cup Series wasn't something he thought he was going to be able to accomplish. He becomes the youngest rookie since Joey Logano in 2009.

"Today is a special day for me," Zilisch said. "I never thought I would make it."
