A Myrtle Beach Italian restaurant was caught selling alcohol without a permit, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
Genci Cake, 43, who was in “operational control” of Cafe Vincenzo’s at 7710 N. Kings Highway, has been charged for failing to secure the proper beer or wine sale permit, and continuing to sell alcoholic beverages anyway, arrest warrants say.
On July 7, 2025, the restaurant allegedly sold beer and liquor to an undercover agent from SLED without possessing an alcohol license from the South Carolina Department of Revenue, according to arrest warrants. On the same day, SLED agents found alcoholic liquors stored throughout the second floor of the restaurant for the purpose of being sold to customers without a permit.
The restaurant first opened in 2022. It had closed at the end of July with plans to reopen on Sept. 5, following a decline in quality, according to its owner Vincenzo Panzarino, The Sun News previously reported.
Cake faces charges of failure to secure a required beer or wine sale permit, unlawful sale of alcoholic liquors and unlawful storage or possession of alcoholic liquors in a place of business. He was charged on Aug. 19, and was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
The SLED investigation was requested by the Myrtle Beach Business License Division.
The case will be prosecuted by the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Offices.
