Julia Garner‘s performance as Silver Surfer in the recently released The Fantastic Four: First Steps is receiving praise from fans around the world. Garner takes on the role of Shalla-Bal’s version of the character in the movie, helmed by Matt Shakman. Although her casting initially wasn’t received well and faced criticism, anticipation grew as clips surfaced, and fans ultimately were hyped to witness her in action in the Marvel movie.

Marvel fans seem happy with Julia Garner’s portrayal of the Silver Surfer in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
As viewers discussed some of the scenes from the movie, a fan on X (formerly Twitter) praised Garner and wrote, “Julia Garner is so badass as Silver Surfer. Her chase scene with the F4 is one of the greatest action scenes in any CBM. She’s an unstoppable force that keeps you on edge the whole time. Can’t wait to see more of her.”
Another user labeled Garner’s presence in the movie as “incredibly captivating” and stated, “I can’t stop thinking about all the scenes with Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four. The visual effects for her design looked insane, and the usage of her surfing in space was unreal.”
Although fans had been familiar with Norrin Radd’s version of the Silver Surfer in the live-action scene, Garner’s take on the role as Shalla-Bal was described as a fresh and good change for the movie by some.
A user stated, “I was disappointed in them not using Norrin but you know what sometimes change is a good thing. Folks will complain but WHO GIVES A SHIT SHE KILLED RHAT AND I NEED MORE.”

On Reddit as well, people couldn’t help but shower Garner with love for being one of the most memorable parts of the movie. A fan wrote, “I loved the Silver Surfer stuff. Riding a wormhole wave is awesome.”
