What’s better than one of the best Japanese sports cars in recent memory? How about one that can also dominate at your next track day?

A heavily modified 2017 Acura NSX is currently up for grabs over on Cars & Bids. The standard version of the cult classic can more than hold its own against its high-performance peers, but this particular example has been outfitted for racing glory.

In the mid-1980s, Honda set its sights on developing a rear-wheel-drive sports car that would deliver the same kind of performance as a Ferrari V-8, but in a much more reliable and accessible package. That car was the NSX—which stands for New Sports Car Experiment—it made its debut in 1990. The vehicle may have featured an iconic look and a potent V-6, but it failed to achieve the commercial success originally envisioned and was discontinued in 2005. But Honda never fully gave up on the idea, and a second iteration, which featured a more aggressive design, hybrid power, and all-wheel drive, was launched in 2016.

The second-gen NSX up for bid comes from the vehicle’s debut model year. The standard version was a true beast, with a hybrid powertrain that consisted of a 3.5-liter turbocharged V-6 and a trio of electric motors (one on the front axle and two on the rear). The setup combined to produce 573 hp and 476 ft lbs of torque, which was routed to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission. This example also comes with some premium add-ons, including carbon-ceramic brakes, Jewel Eye LED headlights, and dual-zone climate control.

But all that wasn’t enough for the car’s original owner. In addition to a striking Berlina Black racing livery, it’s also been equipped with a number of performance-oriented racing modifications. The long list of upgrades includes an AIMGAIN GT wide-body kit that includes a Voltex Racing Type 13 rear wing, a ScienceofSpeed suspension lowering kit, and a new Fi Exhaust valvetronic exhaust system. It’s also rides on a set of staggered Advan GT wheels, with 19-inch rims up front and 20-inch rims in the back.  The changes were made with track performance in mind, which is why the NSX has 12,600 miles on the odometer. It does look to be in good shape, though, and has an accident-free CarFax report.

In the market for something fun to add to your collection? The auction for this NSX runs through Thursday, August 28. Bidding for the souped-up speed machine had already topped $100,000 as of press time, but don’t be surprised to see that number climb skyward over the next 24 hours.
