We know Ford says it builds its trucks tough, but seeing a Raptor that went off a mountainside and suffered no damage is unbelievable. After all, we’ve seen trucks just go off a mild jump and come apart like a bunch of Legos.
Ford Bronco Raptor finally gets a V8.
To recover it, after the Raptor went down the side of the mountain a few hundred feet from the road, a tow company with a big mobile crane was called by authorities. The operator had to use the winch line to rappel down the side of the mountain, then once it was attached to the Ford, used the line to climb back up.

Amazingly, when he got down there it was evident the Raptor wasn’t trashed. Other than some scratches, the thing didn’t look to have sustained any real damage from the unbelievable ordeal. Other trucks probably wouldn’t have fared so well.
But the real test is if the wheels would turn and if anything would fall off as the Ford was winched up slowly to the road. Surprisingly, everything seemed fine. That’s amazing.
As the crew hoisted the pickup back onto the pavement, it was even more obvious the thing took the beating without coming apart. But since the owner locked the truck and took the key with him, it’s not like the tow company could fire it up and see if it still ran fine.
Had they been able to, the truck likely would’ve started and ran fine.

But if you’re in a recovery situation while off-roading, it’s a good idea to check the fluids in a vehicle before starting it. The oil is the most critical. Look not only for the oil level to be sufficient, but check for signs of water or coolant mixed in there.
