A shooting near Parcel 5 and the Liberty Pole area Wednesday evening left two teenagers injured and prompted a large police response in the heart of downtown Rochester.
Rochester Police responded to the area of 1 East Avenue at approximately 8 p.m. for reports of gunfire. The scene quickly escalated, with more than a dozen police vehicles converging on the area and officers cordoning off a significant portion of Parcel 5 and the surrounding area.
Officers found evidence of a shooting at the scene, police said. A short time later, two male victims — a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old, both city residents — were located in a vehicle roughly two blocks away. Police say the victims were inside the vehicle near a group of individuals at 1 East Avenue when an unknown suspect on foot began firing at them. Both were struck by gunfire before fleeing the scene in the vehicle, where they were later found by police.

The victims were transported by AMR to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 17-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the lower body, while the 19-year-old was shot in the upper body.
The identities of those involved were not immediately released.
As of Wednesday night, no arrests had been made. No other injuries have been reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
