
Lubbock police on Tuesday arrested a 21-year-old murder suspect wanted by authorities in Georgia in connection with the July fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy.
Lavernous Arnold, who has been held at the Lubbock County Detention Center since his arrest, appeared Thursday before District Judge William Eichman and waived an extradition hearing.
He was identified as a suspect in the July 5, 2025, shooting death of Jaykavion Gary in Remerton, Lowndes County, Georgia, according to a Georgia Bureau news release.
Members of the Lubbock Police Department Special Operations Division and the Lubbock Texas Anti-Gang Center found Arnold about 9:35 a.m. Tuesday at a home in the 1400 block of 36th Street, according to Lubbock police officials.
