EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. – A lucky Illinois Lottery player hit the jackpot on Monday, winning $14.6 million from a Lotto ticket purchased in East St. Louis.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Crown Mart, located at 306 E. Broadway in East St. Louis.
To win the prize, the lucky player matched all six number in the Monday, Aug. 25, Lotto drawing: 5-9-14-18-22-23. The winning ticket is the largest Lotto jackpot won in Illinois so far in 2025, surpassing a $10.4 million prize that was awarded on Feb. 8, according to the Illinois Lottery.
“Our phone has been ringing off the hook with customers calling to congratulate us for selling the jackpot-winning Lotto ticket,” Crown Mart manager, Ed Hamed, said. “In my nine years managing this location, this is the biggest winning ticket we’ve ever sold. We are thrilled for the winner and couldn’t be more excited.”

The Crown Mart will receive a bonus of $146,000 for selling the winning ticket, one percent of the prize amount. Hamed said he plans to use the bonus money to remodel the store and surprise his staff with something for their service.
Lotto is an in-state game that is played three times a week on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. According to the Illinois Lottery, a total of five Lotto players have become millionaires since Feb. 10.
So far this year, nearly $4.5 million winning Lotto game tickets have been sold, with prizes amounting to more than $44.8 million for Illinois Lotto players. Tickets for the game are available for purchase in-store, online, or on the Illinois Lottery app.
