Bryan Kohberger seemingly attempted to persuade a police officer that he was an honest man during a routine traffic stop that occurred around three months before he brutally murdered four students from the University of Idaho.

According to the police report, Kohberger, 30, told an officer that he was “not aware of the speed limit” when he was pulled over on the night of Aug. 21, 2022, per the New York Post.

The officer noticed that he also was not wearing his seatbelt – something the now-convicted murderer immediately agreed was true.

“I’m just being honest with you,” he told police in the released video of the incident.

After receiving the citation, Kohberger strangely turned the conversation back to his honesty about his seatbelt.

“Just for future reference, I’m obviously not this person,” he said, speaking quickly. “Like I told you I wasn’t wearing my seat belt — do people lie to you about that? Say I lied to you about that?… Could you honestly go back and look at that?”

The officer explained that he simply noticed that he wasn’t wearing it and that he was instructed to “enforce the seatbelt law,” which is why he asked him about it.

As the National Enquirer previously reported, Kohberger was arrested in December of that year in connection with the murders of Ethan Chapin, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Kaylee Goncalves, 21.

He initially pleaded not guilty, but more than two years after the murders, he confessed to the slayings as a part of a plea deal that would allow him to avoid the potential of the death penalty.

At his sentencing hearing, the family members of his victims didn’t hold back their opinions of Kohberger in their impact statements.

Kaylee’s father, Steve Goncalves, mocked the murderer for getting caught so quickly.

“Police officers tell us within minutes they had your DNA. Like a calling card,” he said in court. “You were that careless. That foolish. That stupid. Master degree? You’re a joke. Complete joke.”

Alivea Goncalves, Kaylee’s sister, called him “basic” and warned him not to “ever try to convince” himself that he mattered in her own firmly-worded statement.

“You want the truth? Here’s the one you’ll hate the most,” she added. “If you hadn’t attacked them in their sleep, in the middle of the night, like a pedophile, Kaylee would’ve kicked your f**king ass.”

Kohberger was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences, plus an additional 10 years for his felony burglary charge.
