  • Ram is bringing back the 1500 TRX pickup to its lineup, according to Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa.

  • Ram discontinued the 1500 TRX after the 2024 model year ended.

  • The Ram 1500 TRX formerly used a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that made 702 hp, which will likely make its return without too much change.

In what could only be seen as an obvious move following the return of the Hemi, Ram is bringing the 1500 TRX back into the lineup.

At least, that’s according to Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa, who said as much during the company’s second-quarter earnings call, which was later confirmed by a Ram spokesperson.

Now What?

Despite the Stellantis boss basically confirming the Ram 1500 TRX’s return, there are still plenty of unknowns. The biggest detail to come is the powertrain.

You can almost bet the returning 1500 TRX will pack the truck variant of the 6.2-liter Hellcat V8. Before it went away, that supercharged V8 sent 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Considering Ram basically stuffed the 5.7-liter Hemi eTorque under the hood of the 1500 Ram largely unchanged, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the same process for the high-output 6.2-liter mill.

Why Would The TRX Return?

There’s also the question of timing. Since Ram boss Tim Kuniskis’ came back from retirement, it seems like the company is rushing back to 2023.

Kuniskis and crew led the charge to bring the Hemi back to the Ram 1500 for the 2026 model year, so it’s little surprise that Ram also wants to revive the TRX.

The hefty price tag, seemingly big profit margin, and pent-up demand for the supercharged Ram 1500 are probably too hard to ignore.

What About the Hurricane?

The last big question surrounds the TRX’s spiritual successor: the Ram 1500 RHO. The Hurricane six-cylinder-powered Ram 1500 effectively replaced the TRX as the Baja-inspired model after the TRX went offline in 2024.

Ram could follow Ford’s lead and have both a supercharged V8-powered and a turbocharged six-cylinder version of its road-going desert racer, but only time will tell.

Regardless, it should be welcome news for those who feel like they missed out on their chance to snag a Ram 1500 TRX.
