This week's scorching heat will be followed by torrential rains and a significant cool front, leaving some to wonder when summer will end and what will this year's autumn feel like? Here's what AccuWeather and the Old Farmer's Almanac have to say about fall 2025.

Accuweather meteorologists are warning of torrential downpours, strong thunderstorms and life-threatening flash flooding across the Northeast July 31, including the Garden State. This follows blazing high temperatures and humidity earlier this week and also comes ahead of a forecast that will bring noticeably cooler and less humid air for a change.

While an overall warmer-than-average fall season was predicted by the Old Farmer's Almanac for 2025 for the United States and most of New Jersey, the most northern parts of the Garden State are forecast to see cooler-than-average temperatures and dry conditions with lower-than average precipitation.

Along the Atlantic Corridor, average temperatures will be 70 degrees in September and 55 degrees in October, according to the Almanac. Expected precipitation levels will be 3 inches in September and 4 inches in October.

"Cooler overall with scattered showers, brief warmth mid-month, and heavy rain followed by a cool finish," was the forecast description on the Almanac's website.

Northern parts of New Jersey may see chillier temps and less precipitation.
