Anyone interested in a free transponder?

The Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles and E-ZPass Delaware announced a free transponder summer sales event starting Aug. 1.

Any Delawarean who opens a new E-ZPass account any time during the month of August will receive a free transponder.  Normally, a $15 one-time fee is charged for a transponder added to a new or existing Delaware E-ZPass account.

You can open a new account either online, over the phone or in person at any one E-ZPass Delaware location.

These locations include:

  • E-ZPass Service Center in Dover, 22-24 West Loockerman Street

  • Dover Toll Plaza on Route 1, 200 Plaza Drive

  • Biddles Corner Toll Plaza in Middletown, 2111 Dupont Highway

  • Newark Toll Plaza, 1200 Whittaker Road at I-95

Walk-in service will be available E-ZPass Service Center Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Walk-in service at the toll plazas is available any time.

The offer will last from Aug. 1-31. Commercial accounts are not included in this promotion.

Delawareans should also expect to see toll increases on I-95, Route 301 and Route 1 starting Aug. 15.

However, those who have a state E-ZPass will receive a reduced rate when traveling on all First State toll roadways when this change goes into effect.

More information can be found on the E-ZPass Delaware website.
