Millcreek Township police are hunting for a Michigan man accused of violating custody and protection-from-abuse orders by taking his 7-year-old daughter from the mother's Millcreek home Aug. 3.
Millcreek police Aug. 3 issued an alert on their Tip411 notification system and on Facebook concerning the accused actions of Jafar Almaarej, 39, of Dearborn, Michigan. He is accused of taking his 7-year-old daughter from a residence in the 700 block of East Grandview Boulevard on the afternoon of Aug. 3 and fleeing the area, according to information in the alerts and in Almaarej's criminal complaint.
Almaarej was last seen driving a black four-door Jeep Wrangler with Michigan registration, according to the Tip411 alert. Anyone seeing Almaarej or the vehicle is asked to call 911.
What led to the reported abduction?
According to information in the affidavit of probable cause filed with Almaarej's criminal complaint, the child was reportedly taken from her home shortly before 2:30 p.m. Aug. 3. The child's mother, Almaarej's ex-wife, has an active protection from abuse order against him that also lists the girl as a protected party, a detective wrote in the affidavit. The mother also has full custody of the child, according to police.
The woman said she invited Almaarej to spend time with their daughter, and that the child was taken from her home without permission while the mother was at work.

Almaarej is also accused of sending a text to the mother stated that he had taken their daughter and if the mother contacted the police or the FBI they would have to "search for their bones," according to information in the affidavit. Almaarej then deactivated his cell phone, police reported.
Police said they suspect Almaarej returned to Michigan where he lives.
Millcreek police Aug. 3 filed a first-degree felony count of kidnapping of a minor, a third-degree felony count of interference with the custody of children, and a first-degree misdemeanor count of terroristic threats against Almaarej in the incident and issued an arrest warrant for him.
Almaarej remained at large Aug. 4.
