Most people, us included, would look at a 1977 Cadillac Seville and assume it’s slow, which is why one would make a good sleeper. After all, the old car looks boxy and generic, but they were pretty good performance rides back in the day. However, someone saw fit to make this one far more potent, a true wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Check out this sleeper Chevelle Malibu built by a teenager.
There’s only one exterior clue that something interesting is going on under the hood: the owner has attached a modern “V” badge on the trunk lid. But you could just write that off as a joke, not something serious.

However, the factory 350ci V8 has been swapped out for a 5.3-liter LS V8. We were expecting a modern Cadillac V powerplant, but the one he went puts down plenty of power, as evidenced by how well those rear tires smoke under load.
This is a real budget build, as the owner reveals he got the LS from an old Chevy Silverado, paying a mere $100 for it. With the car costing him just a few thousand, it’s something your average enthusiast can swing, unlike these $400,000 builds we all drool over.
Of course, the old engine wasn’t in great shape. Apparently, one of the cylinders was pitted from coolant sitting in it, and there were other issues. So, the guy had a shop machine it and install stronger internals, because that’s where you really want to spend your money.

Even though the engine came out of a 1999 Chevy, the guy decided to add a carburetor instead of keeping the fuel injection setup. That’s an odd choice, but it seems to work just fine in this build.
The biggest thing we appreciate about this sleeper build is it proves you don’t have to spend a small fortune to have a fast, fun car, despite what so many people want to believe.
