  • The 2026 Honda Prelude is scheduled to arrive at dealers before the end of 2025.

  • Honda confirms the upcoming Prelude will use the dual-axis front suspension design, as well as the front and rear track width, from the Civic Type R.

  • The Honda Prelude will use a two-motor hybrid system for power.

Honda’s reborn Prelude is raiding the Civic Type R’s parts bin for some important pieces.

Honda confirms the upcoming Prelude coupe will use the front suspension of the Civic Type R, which includes the dual-axis design. The Prelude will also sport the wider front and rear track width, and the Brembo front brakes.

While the basic concept of the suspension design and hardware comes from the Civic Type R, Honda has made it clear these pieces will be tuned to work with the Prelude.

That means it will probably be softer than the Civic Type R, but the Prelude should still be fun on the road.

Sorry, No 6-Speed Manual

While the Civic Type R’s suspension design is making its way to the Prelude, the six-speed manual is not.

This could be a deal breaker for some, but the Prelude will use Honda’s two-motor hybrid system, just like the Civic Hybrid. That system eschews a traditional gearbox and operates more like a direct drive gearset.

There will be a simulated shifting system dubbed S Plus Shift, which might help the Prelude feel more natural to shoppers.

Honda hasn’t given the Prelude a price or a hard arrival date, but the company has confirmed it will show up before the end of this year.
