Fishers spot body in Missouri River, leading to investigation

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is working to identify a man whose body was pulled out of the Missouri River on Wednesday night.

The sheriff’s office says that a couple who had been fishing Wednesday night called 911 just before 9 p.m. after spotting the body in the water near 210 Highway and Edwards Road.

Deputies found the man’s body on the north side of the river, and the Missouri Highway Patrol’s Water Patrol Division assisted with the recovery.

The sheriff’s office says due to the state of the body, they weren’t able to identify the man right away, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is ongoing.
