
NEW MEXICO (KRQE) –Parts of New Mexico saw record-breaking heat Thursday, and another round of record and near-record heat is on the way Friday afternoon.

Record highs were broken around central and northern New Mexico on Thursday, including at Santa Fe, where temperatures reached 96 degrees at the airport, beating the previous year’s record of 95 degrees.
Gallup and Clayton also broke records, while Farmington and Deming tied their records.

Many parts of the state saw temperatures in the triple digits on Thursday. KRQE News 13 Chief Meteorologist Grant Tosterud said temperatures are expected to slightly cool off this weekend.
