LAFAYETTE, IN — An overnight shooting at Tate & Lyle's north end plant was not a threat to the public, Lafayette police said, despite few details being released Friday morning.

Police were called to the Tate & Lyle North plant, 2245 Sagamore Parkway N., about 11:47 p.m. Thursday for a report of a shooting, Lt. Steven Prothero said. A person of interest in the shooting has been detained, he said. A victim, who sustained minor injuries, was taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

Police would not release details including where the shooting took place at the Tate & Lyle plant or whether the person of interest or the victim were employees. This story will be updated when more information is available.
