Freshly revealed for the 2026 race season, the new Porsche 911 GT3 R is here to take it to the competition and win. Revised throughout with numerous improvements, the racecar has been designed to give teams and drivers an edge, no matter the circuit or conditions.

This is only the second iteration of the 911 GT3 R since Porsche originally launched the race model for the 2023 season. Feared by many, it has racked up quite a few podium finishes in the 500-plus race starts from around the globe.

Porsche intends to keep that streak up by focusing primarily on two performance areas: suspension and aerodynamics.

“Our focus for this update was on optimization. Small changes can make a big difference when built on a solid, proven foundation,” says Sebastian Golz, Project Manager Porsche 911 GT3 R.

“Driver feedback after the first race outing during the development phase in April confirmed our direction. We’re confident this evolution will allow our customer teams to continue competing successfully across the globe.”

A revised and optimized double wishbone front suspension helps drivers of all skill levels since it helps prevent diving during hard braking. Also revised is the multi-link rear with optimized design for anti-squat during hard acceleration.

On the aerodynamics side, you can see most of the improvements in plain sight. Louvres have been added to the upper portion of the wheel arches, dialing down pitch sensitivity for drivers. Around back, the swan-neck wing has a Gurney flap measuring four millimeters, allowing for finer aero adjustments.

There are other changes introduced in the second-gen Porsche 911 GT3 R. There’s a cooler for the power steering system, keeping the fluid at an optimal temperature for consistent feedback. The wheel bearings are made of ceramic, making them stronger and more durable. And there are many other fine tweaks.

Porsche has been testing camouflaged versions of the new 911 GT3 R for the past year at a number of circuits worldwide, ensuring the design works well for different track dynamics. We’ll see next season how the changes bear out.
