A motorcyclist caught going 164 mph on the Kansas Turnpike in Shawnee County was given a $1,188 ticket, the Kansas Highway Patrol said Friday.
The speed limit throughout much of the turnpike is 75 mph.
Video from a KHP trooper shows the motorcyclist passing their vehicle and others while speeding in the right lane.
“The driver passed the Trooper before cutting across two lanes of traffic at triple digit speeds,” the KHP said, adding the motorcycle exited the turnpike when the trooper caught up and turned on their lights.
“Traveling at this speed isn’t just illegal, it’s extremely dangerous. Whether it ends in a ticket or a tragedy, the consequences are real. Speeding doesn’t just endanger you; it endangers everyone else on the road as well.”
