(NewsNation) — A teenage girl who was missing for two weeks after disappearing from her home outside San Francisco has been found safe.

The Fremont Police Department announced on Thursday that they had safely located 16-year-old Katie Hong. In a social media post, the department said “she is unharmed and safe, pending to be reunited with her family. We are grateful for everyone’s support and assistance during the search.”

Authorities had described Hong as being “at-risk” after she went missing on July 25. According to police, Hong had left behind a note expressing an intention of “running away” to “potentially meet with individual(s) known only by online screen names.” The note also indicated that the people would not provide Hong with their true names.

During the investigation into her disappearance, police found footage of Hong walking away from her home on multiple surveillance cameras, in the direction of Irvington Community Park.

A GoFundMe page created by Hong’s family celebrated her return and thanked community members for their assistance in bringing her home.

“We wanted to give a special shout out to Special Operations Finding Kids (www.findingkids.org), an amazing non-profit organization that supported us and provided resources during this difficult time,” the post said. “Your donation and support meant so much to us during this ordeal. Since she has returned, we feel that it would be more appropriate to return your donations back to you.”
