Without viewing the photos included with this story, we can bet most people would draw a blank if we asked them to envision Porsche’s Sepia Brown paint color. It’s not exactly the most sought-after color in the automaker’s pallet, not like Speed Yellow or Guards Red, but one man is absolutely in love with the hue.
This Porsche 911 is so dark, it sucks in the light around it.
A Porsche collector and former racecar driver named Richard Raimist, who resides in Jupiter, Florida, has three rides in Sepia Brown out of seven Porsches total. Now 72, he bought his first Sepia Brown Porsche at the fledgling age of 20, immediately falling in love with the color.
That car, a 1973 Porsche 911 T Targa was the realization of his childhood dream to tool around Tinsel Town in his own Porsche. Working in the film industry in Hollywood, he was on cloud nine, even though others didn’t entirely understand the man’s love.

We’re not sure many understand why he’s so taken with Sepia Brown today. According to Porsche, 1,283 1970 and 1971 911s came in Sepia Brown. While we’ve seen some, we’ve never thought much about the hue.
While Raimist later upgraded his first Porsche to compete in motorsports events, which eventually lead to him driving in the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1995. He went on to form his own race team called Team ARE, competing in the IMSA GT Championship in 1995.
Now in retirement, Raimist has added two more cars in his favorite color to his garage. One is a Porsche 718 Spyder RS which he was able to get in Sepia Brown thanks to the Porsche Paint to Sample program, which was a clever way to get one.
The other is a 992 Targa 4 GTS. All three lined up in Raimist’s garage, which is covered in car memorabilia, is quite the spectacle.
Even better, Raimist is adding a fourth Sepia Brown beauty to his collection, a new Porsche Cayman GT4 RS. Perhaps he will add a fifth before too long.
