Submerged Camaro Fished Out Of Oklahoma Lake

A sixth gen Chevy Camaro was recently discovered upside down underwater in an Oklahoma lake by some fishermen. Thankfully, when authorities pulled the GM muscle car out of its watery grave, there wasn’t anyone inside. But there are plenty of questions surrounding the discovery.

This abandoned mansion contains some impressive cars.

There’s something mysterious and fascinating about cars left submerged in bodies of water. Part of it is the guessing about why it was done. Did someone commit insurance fraud? Was the vehicle stolen and used in the commission of another crime? Did the driver get confused and end up in the water, feeling too embarrassed to admit the truth later?

Adding to the mystery of this sixth gen Camaro is the fact both the engine and transmission had been yanked out of it before the car ended up in the water.

That adds fuel to the theory the Chevy had been stolen. It’s possible the thieves pulled out the engine and transmission to sell or use in their own ride, dumping the evidence in an effort to not be caught.

Many criminals will drop cars in water, hoping they won’t be discovered soon or ever. They also are often banking on the water to wash away any evidence of their connection with the vehicle. That easily could’ve been the case here.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to the report of what a fisherman using sonar on Lake Sahoma thought was a pickup truck submerged in the murky water. On sonar readings it’s often difficult to make out exactly what kind of vehicle you’re looking at, especially if it’s flipped upside down like the Camaro was.

We often see cars that have sunk into lakes or rivers flipped onto their roof. The forced of the vehicle being sucked into the body of water can often invert it, which is why if you find yourself water while in your car, it’s best to get out immediately.
