Methamphetamine, firearms seized during search in York Co.: deputies

YORK, Va. (WAVY) — A Newport News man was arrested on Tuesday after firearms and methamphetamine were found during a search, deputies said.

According to officials, on Aug. 12, deputies with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 2400 block of George Washington Memorial Highway following reports of suspects involved in the sale of a large amount of crystal methamphetamine.

As a result of the search, 2.5 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, 1.5 pounds of marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, two handguns, one rifle and $10,000 in cash were seized from the residence, deputies said.

Following the search, 50-year-old Neil Daniel Cashman was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute Schedule I/II controlled substances. Deputies said additional charges are pending and that other arrests are possible as a result of the investigation.

Currently, Cashman is being held in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
