America's Best-Selling Sedan Moves Into a New Model Year

The Toyota Camry has held its place as America’s best-selling sedan for years, a rare constant in an industry dominated by SUVs and trucks. Its reputation for reliability, comfort, and efficiency keeps it relevant even as the sedan segment shrinks.

Now offered exclusively as a hybrid, the Camry is key to Toyota’s slow electrification strategy, which leans heavily on hybrid technology rather than a full shift to battery-electric models.

For 2026, the Camry returns with minor updates and a small bump in pricing across the range. That raises the question: with thousands of 2025 models still on dealer lots – many offered at a discount – should buyers pay more for the 2026, or take advantage of the outgoing model year’s inventory?

Price Changes and 2025 Inventory Discounts

The 2026 Camry LE starts at $29,000 before a $1,195 destination fee, up $300 from the 2025 model. The SE remains at $31,300, while the XLE and XSE rise to $34,000 and $35,200, respectively. A new Nightshade Edition slots in at $32,300. All-wheel drive adds $1,525 to any trim.

Based on listings on Cars.com, dealers still have more than 9,300 2025 Camrys in stock, with SE models making up over 4,000 units. Discounts are standard, with the LE dipping as low as $27,156 – about $1,844 less than the 2026 before fees – and many units showing $2,000 markdowns.

The SE is listed from around $30,000, with reductions ranging from $450 to $2,500. XLE models drop to about $31,700, or $2,300 less than a comparable 2026, while the XSE can be found at $32,000 – roughly $3,200 under the new MSRP.

The most considerable dollar savings are on the XSE, while the LE offers substantial value for buyers seeking the lowest price.

What Changes in 2026

Since the Camry was redesigned for 2025, changes for 2026 are minimal. The returning Nightshade Edition brings dark exterior accents and gloss black 19-inch wheels. A new Dark Cosmos paint option is available on the SE, XLE, and XSE. Interior equipment carries over, with digital gauge sizes varying by trim, and infotainment systems unchanged aside from optional upgrades.

The hybrid powertrain remains the same, with a 225-hp output in front-wheel drive and 232 hp with all-wheel drive.

Buyers who value the Nightshade’s styling or the new paint color may see reason to choose the 2026. For most, the mechanical and feature set is identical, making a discounted 2025 model – particularly the XSE for maximum savings or the LE for budget appeal – a more value-packed choice while inventory remains high.

Those willing to shop around and negotiate may secure pricing well below what a new 2026 will command when it reaches showrooms this fall.
