Polestar 3 Sets Guinness World Record with 581 Miles on One Charge originally appeared on Autoblog.
Polestar has rewritten the electric SUV playbook with a new Guinness World Record. A standard-production Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor has officially traveled 581.3 miles on a single charge, smashing expectations and setting an outstanding new benchmark for the segment. The run took place on UK public roads, with Guinness officials overseeing every mile, and was completed without any modifications to the vehicle.
Riding on standard 20-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 EV tires, the SUV navigated a mix of country lanes, dual carriageways, and urban traffic — all while dealing with less-than-ideal weather that included rain and standing water. Despite the conditions, the Polestar 3 exceeded its official WLTP range of 438 miles with 20% battery still left, highlighting just how efficient the model can be outside of a controlled lab test.

A Marathon of Efficiency and Endurance
The journey took 22 hours and 57 minutes to complete, with professional efficiency drivers Sam Clarke, Kevin Booker, and Richard Parker swapping seats every three hours. Telematics provider Webfleet logged all the data, from GPS position to odometer readings, while Guinness judge Paulina Sapinska monitored the run in person. Even when the battery indicator hit zero percent, the Polestar 3 carried on for an extra eight miles before finally reaching a charger.
The SUV averaged 5.13 miles per kilowatt-hour, or 19.5 kWh per 100 miles, making it one of the most efficient large electric SUVs on record. For a model positioned as a comfortable, luxury family hauler — as highlighted in our first drive review of the 2025 Polestar 3 — this level of range capability means long-distance trips are perfectly achievable with minimal charging stops.

The Platform and the Partnership Behind It
The Polestar 3’s achievement is also a showcase of the engineering put into it. Built on the same platform that will form the basis for Volvo’s upcoming premium SUV — part of a shared development strategy we covered in detail when Polestar and Volvo announced their joint project — the 3 combines advanced battery tech, efficient aerodynamics, and sophisticated thermal management to deliver this kind of performance.
This record-setting run is a proof point for both brands, showing what’s possible when EV design focuses on real-world usability rather than just lab-cycle range claims. And with the brand’s wider portfolio expanding, including the design-forward Polestar 4 fastback, it’s clear Polestar aims to cover multiple premium EV niches with models that still put efficiency front and center.

Why This Record Matters for Buyers
EV range numbers are often quoted in ideal conditions, making them hard to translate into day-to-day driving. That’s why this Guinness-certified result carries weight — it’s a real-world, verifiable demonstration of what the Polestar 3 can do when driven efficiently, without hypermiling gimmicks or stripped-out weight. For buyers considering a luxury electric SUV, it means genuine long-distance practicality without sacrificing comfort or performance.
It also raises the bar in a segment where rivals like Tesla and Lucid have historically dominated the range conversation. By showing that a large electric SUV can travel well beyond 500 miles in everyday conditions, Polestar has made a compelling case that efficiency and size don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
