Rivian auctioned off an exclusive one-of-one R1S Quad Pebble Beach Edition at Monterey Car Week yesterday.
The Pebble Beach Edition builds on the foundations of the standard R1S Quad, featuring unique paint and interior trim inspired by the sunrise over the Pacific.
The R1S Pebble Beach edition sold for $175,000, a whopping $45,000 more than its initial estimate, with all proceeds going to charity.
While rare supercars and low-mileage historic models are typically the big-ticket auction block items at Monterey Car Week, Rivian's new one-of-one R1S Quad Pebble Beach Edition also fetched a pretty penny during yesterday's Broad Arrow auction. The Cali-coast-inspired R1S Pebble Beach Edition sold for $45,000 above its initial estimate, with proceeds from the sale being donated to WaterAid and #TeamWater charities.
The R1S Pebble Beach Edition was created specifically for Monterey Car Week, and it's clear why it connected with the Bay Area audience. It is finished in a bespoke Monterey Silver paint color, which Rivian says was created to resemble early morning light dancing on Pacific waves. The shimmering hue is complemented by Laguna Beach Blue brake calipers, painted cladding, custom-forged 22-inch wheels, and Rivian badging outlined in teal.
Pebble Stone-inspired Adventex upholstery on the seats is paired with textured wood trim pieces to keep the beachy theme going on the inside. The Pebble Beach Edition's most distinctive interior feature is a gradient hue found on the speaker grilles and floor mats, which subtly transitions from a rich aqua tone to a warm, sun-kissed orange. Visual touches aside, the Pebble Beach Edition features the same 1025-hp quad-motor powertrain found in the standard R1S Quad.
If you're entranced by the R1S Pebble Beach Edition's coastal vibe and want one in your collection, you're out of luck. Only the bidder who paid $175,000 at yesterday's Broad Arrow Monterey Jet Center Auction can brag about having the sole example in their garage. You'll have to settle for a standard Rivian R1S and save $50,000 in the process.
