ferrari 458 spider pulled over

A Canadian man claimed to be driving to his birthday party in a Ferrari 458 Spider when police allegedly clocked him going 130 kph in a 70 kph zone. A video posted on the York Regional Police YouTube channel shows the driver bringing up asking about how his speed was captured in an effort to get the penalty reduced. It did not work.

The video begins with the officer saying to the driver “I am sure you are aware why I pulled you over.” When the cop says he was speeding, the driver says he is on his way to his birthday party and hasn’t driven the Ferrari in a while.

The cop is not impressed with the birthday story. He tells the driver that he can’t go 130 kph in a 70 kph zone. The Ferrari driver asks the officer to show him the radar. He then began to argue with the officer about how he couldn’t tag his speed from behind before again bringing up the birthday party. That is when the officer informs him that this is not just a speeding infraction, but it is considered Stunt Driving.

In Ontario, the law states that driving 40 kilometers per hour or more over the speed limit on roads with a speed limit less than 80 kilometers per hour is a Stunt Driving violation. That means the vehicle is immediately impounded for a period of 14 days. Penalties also include a 30-day license suspension, a minimum fine of $2,000 CAD and even possible jail time.

A request to for just a speeding ticket is unsurprisingly not a success. Moments later we see the Ferrari being loaded onto a flatbed and the driver calling his mom for a ride home. The video ends with the York Regional Police reminding everyone that Stunt Driving is not okay, even if it is your birthday.
