The Corvette CX concept is a vision of what the future of America's sports car might look like. And if you scroll far enough down, you'll see it's joined by a surprise counterpart.
The Corvette CX is the latest and final concept that was part of a global exercise by GM's design teams.

The CX was designed in Warren, Michigan, and it features a jet-fighter-like lift-off roof.

The front-hinged top section opens to reveal an Inferno Red interior that makes its occupants feel as snug as a bug in a rug.

All of the primary controls are contained on this yoke-like steering wheel, which also houses a display and physical knobs.

Whoa! Am I looking at the cockpit of a spaceship or a Corvette concept? The seatback logos are a dead giveaway.

The design team made sure to incorporate traditional styling traits such as quad taillights and prominent peaked fenders.

The CX concept is an EV with four electric motors mustering a combined 2000-plus hp. A 90-kWh battery acts as a juice pack.

The Corvette CX is joined by a race-ready version known as the CX.R Vision Gran Turismo.

The CX.R VGT features a rear wing that might legally need "wide load" signage.

To safely direct the 2000-hp CX.R, hold on to its yoke-like steering wheel with both hands.

These seats aren't as comfortable as the standard set in the regular CX, but they're a helluva lot more supportive, especially around the shoulder area.

Unlike the CX, the CX.R features a V-8 that revs to 15,000 rpm. It pairs with three electric motors and an eight-speed automatic.

The CX.R VGT celebrates the Corvette Racing program, which is now 25 years old. Can you believe it?

Chevy says the CX and CX.R concepts will be drivable later this month in the popular Gran Turismo 7 video game.
