A Different Kind of 60th Anniversary Celebration

Ford is marking the Bronco’s 60th anniversary in more ways than one. Alongside the official 60th Anniversary Edition package revealed a few weeks ago, the brand has also created two special project vehicles.

Called the Bronco Silver Lake Dunes Project Vehicle and the Bronco Sport Silver Lake Dunes Project Vehicle, these builds celebrate Michigan’s dune country, a place closely tied to the Bronco’s history.

But there’s a catch: Ford isn’t putting these versions into production. Instead, they’ve been designed so that customers can replicate them using Ford Performance parts, accessories, and a few custom graphics from outside suppliers.

What Makes the Silver Lake Dunes Builds Special

Both the Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport project vehicles take inspiration from the sandy terrain of Silver Lake Sand Dunes on the shores of Lake Michigan. Each one is finished in Azure Gray paint with a bespoke graphics package created by Ford’s color and materials team. The design depicts flowing dunes meeting the horizon of Lake Michigan before blending into the sky, intended to create movement across the bodywork. The graphics extend over the hood, doors, fenders, and in the Bronco’s case, even up onto the hardtop.

Both vehicles share a collection of catalog parts, including Yakima paddle board carriers with cross bars, Rigid Industries light bars, bull bars, skid plates, modular bumpers, and custom-painted tow hooks and badging. The Bronco Silver Lake Dunes Project Vehicle rides on painted Bronco Heritage wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich T/A KO3 tires.

Meanwhile, the Bronco Sport version stands out with a set of painted Mustang Mach-E Rally wheels fitted with BFGoodrich XL TRTERRA tires. The smaller SUV is based on a Sasquatch-equipped Badlands model, giving it a slight suspension lift, Rally mode, and color-matched bumper panels. Both builds also showcase orange accents and custom vinyl graphics, elements that require some outside help from a painter or decal shop if owners want to copy them.

Pricing, Availability, and How to Get One

Since Ford is not selling these vehicles as complete packages, interested owners will need to assemble them. The good news is that nearly all the hardware is already in the Ford Performance Parts catalog or accessories lineup, from wheels and tires to racks and lighting. Beyond that, the only out-of-house steps are the graphics and custom paintwork. Ford designed these builds specifically to be achievable for owners who want to recreate them.

There’s no official pricing guide since costs will vary depending on which parts and accessories are chosen. Still, the idea is to show how a stock Bronco or Bronco Sport can be turned into something distinctive without resorting to fabrication. In effect, the Silver Lake Dunes Project Vehicles act as templates for personalization – just don’t expect to find them at a dealership.
