A woman in Kentucky laughs in her jail mugshot after she allegedly vandalized her ex’s car, as if she were a heroine of sorts. As automotive journalists, we see stories like this way too often, and too many times the women are celebrated while behaving like they did nothing wrong.
Here’s more proof new Dodge Hellcats are coming soon.
Flip the roles around – if the story were about a man vandalizing his female ex’s car there would be outcry for the guy to be locked up and probably more. It’s somehow funny when women break men’s stuff, but the reverse is beyond that pale. That’s a sad indication of where our society is at today.
We’re sure you’ve seen famous examples of this, like cars with “cheater” scratched or painted down them. Personally, we’re not fans of automotive vandalism, no matter the supposed reason. But plenty of women in the comments section of the story laughed and applauded the act – and these types of women wonder why so many men don’t want to get near them these days.
The woman, 31-year-old Stephanie Carlquist of Richmond, Kentucky, apparently originally slashed the tire on her ex’s car after a fight, so he left it at their shared residence, reports Fox 56. While it sat there for days, she went to work on it repeatedly, allegedly pouring salt into the engine (we’re assuming via the oil fill cap), dumping glitter into the air vents, cracking the windshield and rearview mirror, plus breaking the infotainment touchscreen.
After the ex-boyfriend returned to have the car towed, he had it taken to a shop where he was quoted almost $12,500 for the repairs. It had to be for a fairly inexpensive vehicle, because we’re surprised the damages didn’t add up to more.
Now Carlquist is facing a charge of first-degree criminal mischief, Class D felony in Kentucky.
