While it always seems like there are fun things to do in Massachusetts, a new study by Wallet Hub has its doubts about entertainment in the Bay State.
Wallet Hub recently ranked the "most fun states to visit," and Massachusetts isn't exactly high on the list.
The study looked at the aspects of nightlife, along with entertainment and recreation in each state to come up with the rankings.
Here's where Massachusetts landed on the list of the most fun states to visit.
Massachusetts ranked No. 24 most fun state to visit
The Bay State is number 24 on the list.
It is ranked at 27 for entertainment and recreation, and is ranked at 21 for nightlife.
Massachusetts had a total score of 38.28. To put that in perspective, California, the state ranked at number one for the most fun, had a total score of 66.89.
What are the 10 'most fun' states to visit?
California landed at number one, followed by Florida, Nevada, Illinois and New York.
The states that took the fifth through 10th spots on the list are, respectively, Colorado, Washington, Texas, Minnesota and Oregon.

What was the methodology for the study?
To make their rankings WalletHub looked at entertainment & recreation and nightlife in each state.
"We evaluated those categories using 26 relevant metrics, which are listed below with their corresponding weights. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 indicating the greatest number and variety of fun and cost-effective options," WalletHub said. "We then determined each state’s weighted average across all metrics to calculate its overall score and used the resulting scores to rank-order our sample."
For example, the following are some of the metrics used for entertainment and recreation:
Number of attractions
Variety of arts, entertainment and recreation establishments
Ideal weather
Restaurants per capita
Amusement parks per capita
Golf courses and country clubs per capita
Movie theaters per capita
Arcades per capita
Fitness centers per capita
Skiing facilities per capita
Marinas per capita
Shoreline mileage
Beach quality
Access to scenic byways
Here are some of the "nightlife" metrics:
Average beer and wine Price
Movie costs
Nightlife options per capita
Access to bars
Time of last call
Music festivals per capita
Performing arts theaters per capita
Casinos per capita
